Thomas E. Smith, Jr., 82, of Benton, passed away April 11, 2012. He was born September 4, 1929 in North Little Rock to the late Thomas E. Smith, Sr. and Ruby Valentine Smith. Thomas was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and United States Army serving during the Korean War. He was a Certified Registered Nurse Anethetist and member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Charles Smith, sister, Betty Brewer and stepson, Hollis Van Hopkins.
Survivors, wife, Mary Smith of Benton, sons, Kevin Brent Smith and wife, Lori of Alexander, Thomas Bruce Smith and wife, Jeannie of Gravel Ridge, Jeffrey Bryan Smith and wife, Laura of Rockwall, Texas, daughter, Lara Pigue and husband, Shane of Benton, sisters, Delores Yariger of Tylertown, Mississippi, Dorothy Tollefson of Benton, twenty one grandchildren and one great grandchild, step daughters, Kasondra Brown, Bryant, Michelle Rhoden of Bryant, and Melinda Whitehead of Hot Springs.
Chapel services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday with burial to follow at PineCrest Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Ashbys, Monday, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
